Like most of the MCEU fans with a Disney+ subscription, I’ve been consuming the latest series from Marvel, Loki. Centered around the buddy cop story of our favorite race car (Owen Wilson), a god of mischief formally burdened with glorious purpose (Tom Hiddleston) and the missing child (Sophia Di Martino). While the remaining cast is rounded out with some amazing talent including Wunmi Mosaku (Hunter B-15) who also plays Ruby Baptiste on Lovecraft Country.

TVA TemPad iPhone LockscreenThe environments and settings of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) conjures memories of Logan’s Run or A Brave New World with it’s late 70’s inspired color palettes and feels like it smells faintly of tobacco. The tech in the show feels like it could come from a vague near future with the practical application being ground in current technologies such as pruning batons, reset charges, time twisters and TemPads with a sentient Artificial Intelligence (AI) Miss Minutes voiced by Tara Strong. Miss Minutes reminds me of Mr. DNA (Greg Burson) from Jurassic Park. There’s something endearing about an animated character with a main directive is to smile and help.

While we don’t have access to an AI hologram like Miss Minutes, we can recreate some basic interface elements based on screenshots from different episode to watch “the sacred timeline” on our own devices. I made a series of mobile backgrounds based on the sacred timeline monitor of the TemPad. Ideally when possible, the sacred timeline would begin to splinter when you receive an email or message or replace your mobile AI with an animated Miss Minutes. Don’t quite know if that’s possible yet, but I’m hopeful for the future.
